Dr. Charles E. McBride is a Board-certified Gastroenterologist, specializing in diseases of the digestive tract, and liver. Dr. McBride grew up in St. Marys, PA, a small town in Western Pennsylvania. After graduating cum laude from the University of Notre Dame, he attended Georgetown University School of Medicine. Dr. McBride received a military scholarship to attend Georgetown, and completed a 9-year service obligation with the United States Army, after completion of his medical school studies in 1989. Dr. McBride completed his Internal Medicine Internship, and Residency training at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii, and his Gastroenterology Fellowship training at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. He completed his military service obligation in 1998, after receiving several awards, including the Army Achievement Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, and "Outstanding Teacher Award." While in the military, he was very involved in academic medicine, serving as an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Uniformed Services University School of Medicine, as well as assisting with the training of residents, interns, and fellows at Walter Reed Army Hospital. He has presented research at several national gastroenterology conferences, and has published several abstracts and articles in medical journals. Since leaving the military, he has been in private practice in Burke, Virginia, and is affiliated with INOVA Fairfax and Fair Oaks Hospitals. Dr. McBride has been named multiple times in Northern Virginia Magazine, Top Doctors, and Washingtonian Magazine, Top Doctors. He performs most of his procedures at the Inova Springfield HealthPlex (an outpatient surgical center near the Springfield Metro), but is also credentialed at Inova- operated surgery centers at Lorton and Fair Oaks . He currently resides with his wife, and three children in Fairfax Station, Virginia. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling, playing hockey, boating, and rooting for his favorite teams (Commanders, Caps, Nats, and, of course, the Fighting Irish).
